Zara

Zara’s name means shining star, princess, and radiance—and she truly lives up to it. Born on December 9, 2021, Zara recently celebrated her 3rd birthday, bringing joy and light to everyone around her.

She came into our lives through Underdog Rescue, adopted as a companion for Stassi after we heartbreakingly lost our last dog to cancer. Zara, our stunning German Shepherd, is not just unique in spirit but also in nature. During what was supposed to be a routine spay procedure, her veterinarian discovered she was a hermaphrodite. Zara underwent both spaying and neutering, showcasing her resilience and grace in the face of challenges.

At just two years old, Zara faced another hurdle: a torn meniscus and ACL in her knee. She underwent surgery to repair both ACLs and her meniscus in one procedure. Despite the difficulties, Zara powered through her recovery.

Now weighing a majestic 99 pounds, Zara is more than just a beauty—She continues to shine as the radiant star she was always meant to be, filling our hearts with love and admiration every single day.
